Dixon Bartlett is a highly regarded furniture industry executive whose diverse critical management positions have universally required innovation, initiative, creativity, team building, honest communications, and unimpeachable ethics. Well recognized for his trend-forward aesthetic, he has led several successful companies in the sales, merchandising, visual merchandising, store construction, marketing, and distribution functions. After a post college six-year stint in the hospitality industry, where he learned the disciplines of fine customer service and was assistant manager of a 800 room luxury hotel, he took a gamble and shifted career direction - starting at the bottom as a delivery helper, at the newly formed This End Up Furniture Company.

That gamble paid off, and years later he had risen from delivery helper to store manager, to contract sales manager, to district manager, to regional sales manager, to vice president of merchandising and new ventures. Never being one to shy from a challenge he was pivotal in the company’s phenomenal growth from a few stores to over 230 stores and hundreds of millions of dollars in sales. With outstanding sales, leadership, creative, and developmental skills he was integral in developing the company to the 19th largest furniture retailer in the country.

With international sourcing skills, and a wealth of retail management experience under his belt he changed direction again as he took over the merchandising and marketing responsibilities for the contemporary lifestyle retailer Storehouse in 2000. Traveling the world to bring together the very best elements of an eclectic modern merchandising mix, he led the Storehouse team that defined the aesthetic for the “soft modern” look that the whole furniture industry has since emulated.

In 2007, along with long time business associate, Caroline Hipple, he formed HB2 Resources. HB2 provides consulting service in the areas of strategic and tactical business planning, product and showroom design, as well as cultural and employee development. HB2’s clients have included major retail chains, a diverse group of home furnishings manufacturers, celebrity licensors, and major museums and trade associations.

A lover of ancient art, architecture, fine music and cuisine, as well a student of diverse cultures and spiritual philosophies, his travels for business and pleasure have taken him to the furthest points on the globe. His love of the land and sea come naturally from his early years on a family farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and his many childhood days spent sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. His inherent interest in people was enhanced through his studies at the Univ. of VA where he earned a double major in Sociology and Anthropology. A proud father of two energetic young men – nothing gives him more pleasure than time spent discovering the world through their eyes.
